Mirage

Date :
2013
Déscription :

“Mirage is a video diptych composed of an architectural scale model sitting atop a moving car that is travelling through the abandoned parking of Mirabel International Airport. Evoking modern architecture, especially through its reference to a Sol LeWitt sculpture, the maquette falls apart as the car travels.

For this work, Yates was interested in two specific elements : creating new impressions of architectural structures and injecting movement as a new part of her artistic exploration of the image. Togheter, these elements introduce the notion of a performative architectural event.” V. C.-G.
